Teen Titans 3

Teen Titans 3 cover

As the issue begins two mysterious figures enter an equally mysterious place.

One of them obviously has some kind of power. Soon they are revealed to be Mammoth and his sister Shimmer.

Mammoth looks really strong and he really is. He's a Thing-class powerhouse. Incidentally these are new characters and both character designs are stunning.

This group of villains is known as the Fearsome Five; and here they are:

I've always liked Dr. Light for some reason. While Simon is the villain I love to hate; psionics has always been a nasty capability for a bad guy.

Back with the Titans, Starfire relates her backstory. Most notable is this.

After all Starfire's references to being a warrior how could his father be such as spineless toady?

Here's another notable incident.

Robin gets a bit aggravated at Raven and Kid Flash hits him? Overreaction? Yes, but there is more to this that will be revealed in future issues. For now let's give poor Wally a pass.

Then we go into what we have been anticipating: Teen Titans vs. Fearsome Five! Beautiful panel of Dr. Light vs. Wonder Girl.

Mammoth shows his strength.

Psimon proves that speed is no defense against him.

Shimmer strikes a nice pose.

And changes the surroundings to ether.

The Fearsome Five are winning by they suddenly find themselves leaving the scene.

What is happening is that Psimon has secretly taken over this group from Dr. Light.

Every super-group needs a nice HQ and the Titans are gifted one by a mysterious benefactor.

This is the tower that Robin saw in the Titans preview issue. Perez can draw really complicated looking control panels.

Imagine the patience and love of craft it takes to draw that.

It's round 2 between the Fearsome Five and the Titans. Mammoth impresses but Cyborg has a counter.

Psimon may have taken control but Dr. Light proves he's still a force to be dealt with.

Gizmo shows his mettle.

Lights out for Robin

The other Titans continue to give a fight.

But ultimately the team loses.
